You've seen this dress a few times already this summer, and since our Los Angeles Septembers are usually the hottest month of the year, this will continue to be a workhorse piece for me for some time! This week, it was time for my monthly networking luncheon - and it was another HOT day! - so I trotted out my trusty dress and set to styling 'er up for "transitional" weather.
When the calendar says it's time to transition, but the thermometer says it's still high summer, I rely on a few tricks to help me look and feel seasonally appropriate (even when the weather itself is not):
- Insist on a jacket (even if it's made of linen, mesh, or chiffon - and even if you take it off at some point)
- Try to involve some booties (even if they are peep-toe cut-outs)
- Opt for a darker color scheme (whites can be wintry, but not in the form of a sundress)
- Swap clear, summer color combos (like coral and turquoise) for deeper, moodier hues (like orange, emerald, navy, and brown)
Transitional "Hotumn" outfits will be the name of the game here for a bit, so stay tuned for more outfit examples and Fall trends that you can wear right away!
