Wow, it's been quite a while since my last OOTD post! I've been on the road a lot lately, but I finally made it home with some daylight to spare for my pics, and I wanted to share a fun alteration I had done just in time for our hot hot heat.
I've had an amazing dress sitting in my closet for the longest time - it was far too small for me and supremely short, but I couldn't part with the pretty, nebula-like print. So when I found myself longing for another floaty, modest, airflow-friendly skirt in my life, I decided to have my tailor take the dress to the chopping block!
With the neckline moved down to my waist, and the hemline dropped to mid-calf, this dress instantly went from a sad closet "orphan" to a mama's precious little snowflake, shuttled about to every single activity I can think of. It's so light and airy that it's even more cooling than any of my shorts, with the added benefit of leg privacy. ;)
The topper is also earning its keep again this summer. We talked about Tencel a couple weeks ago here on the blog, and the cotton/linen/Tencel blend of this jacket makes it one of my all-time favorites. It's the perfect weight to throw on in the coffee shop or mall on a hot day - and stuff down into a tote bag to brave the heat on the way to the car.
I hope to have more examples of heat wave outfits up soon - both more business-y, and more weekend-y.
Also on the agenda for this week: a look ahead at the Fall Fashion Trends about to hit stores, what they'd say about you (if you let them), and how to start sneaking them into your wardrobe when the weather won't cooperate.
