Cover Up with Knit Linen
Sorry to have been MIA so many days last week - been having lots of FUN helping clients get ready for summer and also working on a gorgeous fashion photo shoot (which I'll share with you soon)!
While I've been gone, it's been HOT outside! So I figure it's only right to continue with some cover-up strategies for the modest, sun-sensitive, and dress-code-restricted. Today, we're highlighting one of my all-time favorite fabrics: knit linen.
I was just talking to someone the other day who had never heard of knit linen, and I just about plotzed! Linen knits have all the delicious airy comfort of woven linen, but with far less stiffness and dreaded wrinkling. I used to only see linen tee shirts in stores - but these days you can find everything from leggings to palazzo pants to ponchos made of the gossamer fabric. Brands like Eileen Fisher, J. Jill, and Nic & Zoe always offer a range in knit linen, but many more brands are catching on, too.
Some things to remember when buying knit linen:
- Size down - the web-like material tends to grow over time!
- Watch for transparency, because loose knits can be sheer.
- The looser the knit, the more likely it is to snag.
Are you a fan of knit linen - or are you like my friend and totally new to the idea? If you need a higher neck, longer sleeves, or lower hem than seems right for the heat, definitely give it a try!
