Graceful Gentle Genteel

Happy April, Blogosphere!

This week, by reader request, we'll look at some Easter outfits for a range of different personalities and circumstances - even if you don't necessarily celebrate Easter, you never know when you'll be invited to a friend's BBQ or egg hunt! We'll also incorporate the trends we discussed last month so you can get some ideas of how to use them in your own unique look at home.

Today, let's kick off the series with a personality we're calling Graceful Gentle Genteel.

This personality is made for Spring and is happy to buy up plenty of items from the newest look books and catalogs. She's feminine, ladylike, polite, cool, composed, and generally upbeat. She is a social butterfly and loves to entertain guests at home, which is fastidiously organized and always cleaned to a shine. This Easter, the party is at her place, where she's organized an egg scavenger hunt for the kids and done up a duo of specialty cocktails for the grown-ups.

For her outfit, we've mixed in ladylike bell sleeves, low heels, and a floral "appliqué" in the form of an oversized statement bracelet. We also have a hint of low-contrast stripes in her tone-on-tone straw bag (her adult Easter basket!) and piped slide mules, which acknowledges the trend while maintaining her soft, breezy vibe.

The key elements of this personality's overall look are:

  • Soft colors like pastels, khaki, cream, and gray
  • Cool tones like blue and taupe
  • Low-mid heels without platforms
  • Feminine prints like florals, polka dots, sometimes paisley
  • Soft fabrics like silk, rayon, and knits
  • Knee-length to midi-length hemlines
  • Polished, refined, and restrained jewelry

Stay tuned for a completely different featured look tomorrow, when we examine an outfit made for a Quirky Comfy Cowgirl!
