Parsing Trends: Natural Wonders
Happy Friday and last day of March, everyone (OMG, where did the time go??). Today we're finishing off a month of Spring Trends and a week of jewelry with an emphasis on Natural Wonders!
Do you remember the Natural Wonders chain that used to hang out in the local mall? I used to absolutely looooooove going there to look at the bins of tumbled rocks, astronaut candy, and other vaguely-geeky-but-totally-awesome scientific paraphernalia. That's exactly what I think of when I look at some of the jewelry this season! This trend encompasses all kinds of looks inspired by nature in its natural state: feathers, shells, geodes, uncut gemstones, and more.
This is a great look for Spring/Summer, when nature is at it's prettiest and most welcoming, and it creates a nice sense of vibrancy and ease.

If you'd like to add some natural, un-styled elements to your look without going full-tilt bohemian, try offsetting the rough accessories with polished metals, tailored clothing, clean/modern designs, or delicate elements like thin straps or slim heels.
By reader request, next week we'll look at fun ways to incorporate some of this month's trends into Easter/Spring outfits for different personalities (very similar to the series on Valentine's Day outfits)! Then it's on to Figure Flattery, so that we can all learn how to wear these looks on a real, live body.
Happy End-of-March, everyone - we'll see you in April!
