New Year's Revolutions (Pun Intended)
Happy New Year!
I'm back from my totally unintentional December Hiatus, which emerged from a perfect storm of birthday stuff, travel, holiday stuff, client stuff, and sick-y stuff. Whew! Thank goodness that year is over!
I don't know about you, but I'm ready to move onto bigger and better things for 2017 - but this year, instead of setting resolutions, I'm framing my goals as revolutions. I don't just want to "resolve" to do a few tasks; I want to totally revolutionize my style and make a few fundamental changes. I want to go:
- Less Mainstream: I really love a killer deal at the flea market or on Ebay, but this year I want to break away from focusing on the most luxurious brand for my money and make a point to choose lesser-known, defunct, local, and custom options - such as this vintage Butte Knit dress, purchased at Goodwill for $8!
- More Polished: Over the years, I've collected a nice supply of rugged boots, jeans, and jackets. I'm not giving them up any time soon, but for 2017 I want to balance my rough side out with polished items like slimmer heels, shiny fabrics, tailored tops, and shiny jewelry like this Kate Space bracelet gifted to me by my sister (you rock, Sister).
- More Mysterious: Something "clicked" inside me this month and made me realize that the next step in my personal evolution is going a little bit darker and more mysterious with my image - not quite Gothic or Steampunk, but a little bit moodier, ethereal, and earthy.
For the rest of January, I'll take take you through my journey with myself and my clients to share some tried-and-true ideas for you you can take your own New Year's Resolutions and actually stick to 'em this time!
Come on back tomorrow, and we'll answer the most important question: Why Should I Set a Style Resolution, Anyway?
See you then! Muah!
