Happy Friday! This week we talked about casual, smart casual, swim, and business looks for the 4th of July. For those of you who have not skipped town on vacation quite yet, I'm rounding out the week with some tips for cocktail attire!
- Pay attention to fabrics - dressier fabrics like crepe, silk, satin, or velvet will instantly elevate a look from daytime BBQ to nighttime appropriate.
- Mind the crowd - if your party is still family-oriented (e.g. filled with relatives, the parents of your kids' friends, etc.) save the lingerie-inspired styles for date night.
- Keep it vague - cocktail hour is more sophisticated than crazy, so don't bee too literal with your patriotic references - they could be anything! Some ideas are shape-bursts, non RWB stripes, military green, or even jewelry/prints involving an eagle or your state animal.
- DO WHAT YOU WANT, AND HAVE FUN! - This is a celebration of the Independence of a Nation centered on Independence, after all. Take liberty to pursue your happiness, and wear whatever makes you smile. :)
Have a safe and sane (enough) holiday, everyone! I'll see you back here on Tuesday, July 5th!
