Feeling a little militant today in my army green coat, buttoned up shirt, and high-waisted pants. It's a little bit different from my normal outfit, which would utilize a low or mid rise skinny instead of a high-waisted pleated pant. It's also unexpected for me in light of the cropped pant leg in winter - I used black socks to keep warm and also create an unbroken leg line, but it felt fun to do something a little bit quirky while the rest of my outfit was so strict-feeling.

Adding to the fun were my black-and-white print shirt and bag - I love how the two different striped patterns play off of one another without being a perfect match. The high contrast stripes also bring some brightness and movement into the mix. Great high energy as we approach the holidays! The army green is a nice, soft neutral that tones the busy patterns down while adding that second layer of warmth to the outfit.

If you want to feel a bit festive but aren't down to deck yourself out in red and green boughs of holly, you can definitely give black and white a try! If stripes aren't your thing, you can also look for polka dots, upbeat graphic prints, florals, or color blocks.
