Mommy Group Swap Party in Simi Valley
This Wednesday I had the pleasure to do a swap party for my client Stella's Mommy Group! Stella hosted at her home in Simi Valley and, as the hostess, she received a private consultation beforehand (which I'll share in a separate post later). After that, her fellow moms converged on the living room to swap clothes and learn tips and tricks to make getting dressed quicker and easier!
The topics we covered included:
- The proper fabric drape to skim the body without adding bulk
- Finding the ideal neckline for a slimmer looking figure
- Trouble shooting items to make them easier to wear
- Fun ways to tie a scarf
- Slimming colors other than black
This gorgeous guest was ready to part with a beloved top because she just couldn't get past the wide bell sleeves. They weren't practical for a mother of a young child, and they created the illusion of width and bulk right where she didn't want it - but everyone agreed that the top looked great otherwise. Instead of letting her pass it on, we chopped off the sleeves on the spot and instantly made the top wearable again.
Lovely Lady #2 scored two new tops to help dress up jeans and skirts she already owns. With a newborn and two older kids in the house, she was looking for options to slim her changing figure without adding bulk. The softly-draped chiffon fabric of this top disguises the middle from the front without ballooning out at the sides.
She also went home with a very pretty black lace top that skims the figure without clinging or poof-ing out at the sides. The v-neck also elongates the neck and leaves room for a pretty necklace!
Both of these items will be versatile items that can either be pared with skinny jeans/jeggings and boots for a smart-casual outing this fall - or with a slim jersey tube skirt and flats/heels for a more festive look during the holiday season.
Modern Mum #3 recently had great success with a new diet and shrunk out of all her clothes!
While it's a fun problem to have, it can be frustrating to spend money on clothes for a figure that is still changing. Luckily, she went home with this fitted top that shows her new figure and is also comfy enough to work for her lifestyle as a new mother.
Thank you to everyone who came out to the swap, as well as to everyone who couldn't attend but still contributed clothing & accessories! I had so much fun getting to know everyone's style, and I hope to see you at a future swap!
