Ok, Halloween is when? If you need a last-minute (and free!) costume, try shopping your closet! As with any outfit, you can express tons of character and personality through styling alone. This is a great exercise to practice creating an inspiration look from items you already own - if you can transform into Angelina or ScarJo, then you can surely create an homage to a couple Fall trends, right?

The products linked below are just fun extras and aren't 100% necessary. Most are less than $20 and available for Amazon Prime shipping, just in case you are too busy to pick up that final touch. The clothing items were all pulled from my husband's closet and my own.

Women

Katniss Everdeen (see main photo), The Hunger Games trilogy: rugged jacket + skinnies + boots + long braid. If you can buy one thing, make it: a toy bow/arrow!

Natasha Romanoff (Black Widow), The Avengers comics/movies: fitted black top, fitted black skinnies, black boots, red hair. Don't have red hair? If you can buy one thing, make it: red hair chalk!

Maleficent, the Angelina Jolie version: twisted hair horns + flowy neutral dress + heavy AJ-esque cheek and lip makeup. If you can buy one thing, make it: a pair of black wings! However, since Maleficent does lose her wings in the film, you can also skip the wings and rely on dramatic makeup for the look.

Men

Bilbo Baggins, The Hobit: cut-off/rolled-up pants+ white shirt + messy hair + bare feet or flip flops. If you can buy one thing, make it: a pair of suspenders!

Brian Mills, the Taken series: cell phone + black leather jacket/blazer/pea coat + nondescript top and pants + gray hair. Make the first thing you say to everyone, "If you're looking for ______________, I don't have any. What I do have is a particular set of skills..." Don't have gray hair? If you can buy one thing, make it: white hair spray or chalk.

Gamemaker Seneca Crane, The Hunger Games: red shirt + black jacket or vest + black or tan pants + center hair part + hotrod beard - achieve the beard by trimming your own or drawing it on with makeup. The beard really makes this so, if you cannot borrow makeup or grow a beard, pick up an eye pencil at the drug store or dollar store!

I'd love to hear about how you shopped your closet for Halloween - if you'd like to share, shoot me a pic at rachel.klewicki@gmail.com.
